Martinhal Lisbon Chiado: Luxury Family Hotel in Lisbon
Lisbon is a popular destination for many traveling families, but it can be difficult to find accommodation that offers plenty of space and a central location. Martinhal Lisbon Chiado is not only located in the trendy Chiado district, but the property offers a variety of apartments for families of all shapes and sizes. Families will be pleasantly surprised by the spacious accommodations and available amenities of this hotel. Families will be very comfortable choosing Martinhal Lisbon Chiado as their home base as it is a wonderful luxury family hotel in Lisbon.

We were guests of Martinhal Chiado Lisbon but all opinions are 100% our own.

Lisbon is fairly easy to reach as it a quick seven-hour flight from the east coast of the United States. The airport is a quick twenty-minute ride to Martinhal Lisbon Chiado and the property can provide transportation and car seats upon request. The property prides itself on being family-friendly and it goes above and beyond the definition. This is definitely my favorite Luxury Family Hotel in Lisbon for the price.
Accommodations
There are several accommodation choices at Martinhal Lisbon Chiado Family Suites. The property has 37 different apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments.
A deluxe studio is 333 square feet and can accommodate two adults and up to one baby cot. The largest unit is a two-bedroom superior deluxe mezzanine apartment with over 1000 square feet of space. This one can accommodate up to four adults, two children, and one baby cot over two levels.
We stayed in a two-bedroom deluxe apartment and our family of five was very comfortable. The master bedroom had an en-suite bathroom and a Juliet balcony. There was an additional bedroom with four bunk beds and a bathroom just outside the room. The spacious living area had multiple couches and a large dining table for meals.

All apartments have fully equipped kitchens (stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee maker) and spacious bathrooms. The larger apartments have a living area and dining area for families as well. No one will complain about the lack of space in these beautifully designed apartments.

One of the most amazing things about this property (and all Martinhal properties) is that you can leave the baby gear at home. With advance requests, they can provide bed rails, bottle warmers, high chairs, pack n’ plays, potties, or safety gates.
The hotel will deliver any of these items to your room through their Baby Concierge service. It is also possible to request car seats so you don’t have to bring yours. In-room babysitters are available for an additional fee.
Amenities
Martinhal Chiado Lisbon has a Kids Club for ages 6 months to early teens. This is very helpful for parents who want to head out and explore the city on their own during the day. It is also possible to check the kids in at night to the pyjama club where kids can enjoy nighttime campouts and movies while parents head out for dinner alone.

Dining
There is one restaurant on-site with food available, M Bar. This restaurant has quite a few options for breakfast, with snacks throughout the day, and light meals available for dinner. The good news is, with Martinhal Chiado Lisbon’s central location, there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. Those who prefer to cook in the apartment will find many grocery stores nearby.

Local Area
Chiado is traditionally the shopping district of Lisbon and visitors will find many trendy stores and restaurants in the area. It is a quick ten-minute walk to the main pedestrian street, Rua Augusta, and is close to the Bairro Alto and Baixa districts. It’s also a five-minute walk to the waterfront. There are many transportation options nearby, and taxis and Uber are plentiful. The area is clean and safe. Lisbon is known as the city of seven hills so pack some good walking shoes.

Final thoughts
Martinhal Chiado Lisbon is quite possibly my favorite luxury family hotel in Lisbon. They have the largest apartments of any hotel we’ve ever visited in Europe (and seeing as how we’ve visited 20 countries with kids that’s saying something).
I spent time in their Kids Club and could tell the employees love their jobs. Come to think of it, so does everyone at this property. No request was too big and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I know many larger chains could take a page out of their hospitality book!
In the end, the hardest guests to please are the kids, so here’s what they had to say:
“I liked that the kids had their own room and mom and dad had their own. The couches were really big and the apartment was spacious.”
“I loved that the apartment was centrally located and we could walk to everything.” (This was from my son who had a walking cast on for our entire trip).
“I liked that there was a ton of room and that the tv had a lot of channels so if you were lounging in the apartment there were plenty of options to choose from.”

What did we love the most? We loved the people the most followed by the accommodation itself. The property was lovely, but two days was not long enough. The kids are already asking when we’ll return.
