Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe – My New Favorite in Cancun

(I originally stayed at Royal Uno resort, but this property is now Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe). I’ve been to over fifteen properties in Cancun, and each one hits with a different result. Some are comfortable, others are forgettable, but very few are at the top of the list. After a recent stay at Royal Uno® Resort in Cancun, I can easily add another property to the top of my favorite family resorts in Mexico.

This resort has it all: updated rooms, delicious dining options, fabulous nighttime entertainment (and I honestly have never said this about a resort), and a beautiful beachfront. Add in the fact that it’s just fifteen minutes from the Cancun airport and it easily becomes one of the best options for families looking for the perfect Mexico vacation.

What Families Will Love About Royal Uno Cancun

Royal Uno Resort opened in June 2022, making it one of the new Cancun all-inclusive resorts. It is one of the Royal Resorts in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area. The property sits on a strip of land between the Caribbean Sea and the Nizuc Lagoon and all of their rooms and suites have an ocean view. Depending on the building location, rooms may also have views of the pool deck.

Rooms at Royal Uno Resort

Rooms at Royal Uno are decorated exquisitely with colors and finishes that reflect the turquoise blue of the sea, the rich corals of the ocean floor, and the natural woods of the region. It’s a beautiful palate of colors and designs that is found not only in the rooms but extends throughout the resort as well.

There are several room options for families. Their entry-level Authentic Uno Suite has two queen beds and can sleep two adults and two children. The Uno Suite can sleep four adults in a king-size bed and two Murphy beds.

If you have a large group, check out the Uno Grand Suite which sleeps 6 adults and 2 children, and has two bedrooms and two baths. Many of the resort’s rooms can be interconnecting for larger families and all rooms have balconies.

For the ultimate luxury family experience, consider booking an Uno Beachfront Suite with a plunge pool. This has one bedroom, a large bathroom, a spacious living area, patio space, and a plunge pool. From here you have easy access to the beach and hotel pools.

Activities at Royal Uno Cancun

As is typical of many all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, there are scheduled daily activities throughout the resort. Many are open to all ages, and we saw everything from pool volleyball to ping pong and family races.

The Uno Kids Club has an indoor play area and an outdoor covered playground. There are daily arts and crafts, board games, and a foam pit. It is adjacent to the children’s pool and water play area which is sure to entertain kids for hours.

Families with older children can also enjoy the property in the Cancool Family Room. This area has video games, daily activities, a foosball table, and board games. It’s very relaxed and perfect for indoor family time.

There are also two oversized pools and a water sports area, where families can kayak or sail, and of course, there’s a beautiful beach with plenty of loungers and beverage service.

As I mentioned in the beginning, I’m not one for nighttime entertainment at all-inclusive resorts. They are usually horrible with average performers. However, Royal Uno’s evening shows should not be missed. One night was a unique circus show, and another night was a fire show. The performers were amazing and both shows were awesome!

Amenities

Adults will love the state-of-the-art fitness center and Alea® Spa. The spa has a hydrotherapy circuit complete with a plunge pool and sauna.

Massage services are available as well as different facial and skin treatments. There is also a beauty salon for hair and nails. We highly recommend making time to experience this part of the resort.

Dining at Royal Uno Resort

I can easily say Royal Uno has some of the best dining experiences in Mexico. There are four on-site restaurants, two snack bars, a rooftop bar, and a sports bar.

Miamare®  features Mediterranean cuisine with a twist and offers some delicious creations including Carpaccio di Polpo (octopus), Risotto Nero (risotto with squid and black squid ink), gnocchi, pizza, and pasta.

Aora is the hotel’s Teppanyaki restaurant, but it also offers Indian, Thai, and Chinese cuisine. There are sushi rolls, pad Thai, and tikka masala. It’s perfect for adventurous eaters.

Palotinte serves Mexican fare with everything from empanadas to enchiladas and tacos. There’s even a taco carving station that makes its way around some evenings.

Os is the property’s buffet restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This isn’t your typical all-inclusive buffet because everything is fresh, creative, and delicious.

There is a snack bar next to the pool that serves wings, hot dogs, pizza, and tacos all day. The Star Bar®  is an awesome rooftop terrace that serves ceviche and some delicious cocktails.

Faro 32 Coffee Shop offers coffee and quick bites around the clock and serves crepes throughout the day. Kukul Cantina is a sports bar with big screen televisions and a pool table and is open in the late afternoon to the early morning hours. Be sure to stop here for an evening drink with sunset views.

For those who simply want to relax in their rooms, there is 24-hour room service available.

Off-property adventure in Cancun

If your family wants to explore off the property you won’t have to go far. Right across the street is Puerto Maya Cancún. They offer the ultimate day trip your family will never forget!

Their Mayan Jungle Tour starts with a traditional Mayan ritual, followed by a speedboat ride. Families can pair up and head off through the Nichupté Lagoon through the mangroves to the Nizuc Reef for snorkeling. This is some of the best snorkeling in Cancun. After working up an appetite, head back and enjoy a delicious Mayan lunch. This activity is fun for all ages!
