Mexico makes for an easy family vacation from the United States and Canada, since flights can be fairly short and the weather is almost always warm and sunny. When traveling with children it is important to find a kid-friendly resort in Mexico that offers plenty of entertainment and food options. It also helps if the property has a kids’ club and offers on-site activities or off-site excursions, providing an opportunity to explore Mexico beyond the resorts. Here are some of the best all inclusive Mexico resorts for families.

Best All Inclusive Resorts in Mexico for Families
All Inclusive Resorts in Cancún for Families
Finest Playa Mujeres – Cancun
This family friendly all inclusive resort in Mexico is one of three of the Excellence properties located on Playa Mujeres, outside of the Cancun tourist zone. The adjacent properties, Beloved and Excellence, are adults-only.
Finest Playa Mujeres is divided into two areas, family friendly and adults-only. It’s an invisible line, but it seems to work. Some family rooms have a walk-out swimming pool. I would recommend against this if your kids are little, but otherwise, it’s a pretty nice option to have.
The Kids’ Club at Finest Playa Mujeres requires children between the ages of 3 and 6 years must have a parent stay with them, or the family has the option to hire a nanny to watch over the children (this is charged hourly). This is one of the most toddler friendly resorts in Mexico.
Children aged 7 and older can be in the kids’ club, but need to be signed in and out by parents. Each day there are different games, crafts, and hands-on activities for the kids.
Outside the kids’ club, children will enjoy the water play area, the swimming pools, the kids’ spa, and activities like kayaking and snorkeling. This is one of the best all-inclusive resorts for families.
Paradisus La Esmeralda – Playa del Carmen
Paradisus Playa del Carmen is divided into a kid friendly side and an adult side (La Perla) so it is possible to sneak away for some quiet time. Kids ages 5 to 12 will love the Kids Zone with its daily crafts and activities on the beach. Children ages 1 to 4 can stay in the daycare room and babysitting is available 24 hours a day.
Teens will enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, and the game room. Paradisus also has a family waterpark that kids will love.
The swim up hotel rooms on the first floor are worth the expense, as they allow families to relax right outside the room. Try the Family Concierge Service for additional amenities such as welcome packages for kids, milk and cookie turndown service, and an Xbox in your suite on request.
Paradisus has 14 different dining options to suit all tastes, big and small. The Paradisus La Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen will be enjoyed by all ages.
(Note: There is also a Paradisus Cancun that is close to the Cancun airport (this one is about 45 minutes away), similar amenities and a great family option as well).

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa – Tulum
The Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa is a stunningly beautiful property on 44 acres of lush, blooming gardens with a sugar sand beach.
It’s located in Tulum, which means guests have easy access to the ruins of Chichen Itza and Cobá, cenotes (here are the best cenotes near Cancun), and the Xel-Ha aqua park.
Dreams Tulum shares a beach with sea turtles who hatch seasonally from July through December and the resort is committed to educating guests on the safety precautions that should be taken during the sea turtles’ nesting period. If you’re there during this time, you might just spot a turtle or two while snorkeling in Tulum!
The Mayan themed Explorer’s Club is perfect fo children ages 3-12. There’s a water park, weekly campouts, and daily activities based around nature, science and exploration. The Core Zone teen program allows teenagers ages 13 to 17 to meet new friends, try new sports (like beach soccer), and even snorkel.
Generations Resort by Karisma – Riviera Maya
Generations Riviera Maya has options for families of all ages. The Eko kids club is available for ages 4 through 12, and offers a library, movies, a ball pit, and more. Teens have their own hang-out space too.
Those with young children will love the baby concierge which offers items like bottle warmers, baby food, and strollers so parents to have to bring their own.
Everyone can enjoy gourmet food at one of the four restaurants on property or grab simple food from the swim up bars. The rooms come in a variety of configurations, and some even offer walk out swimming pools.
Entertainment is always available from movies by the pool, to sing alongs, to the Eko cooking class and spa time. If you want to have loads of family fun this is the place to visit.
Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach – Cancún
While standard reservations are not all-inclusive, it is possible to upgrade to the Grand Club experience for all-inclusive like amenities.
Guests can enjoy unlimited meals and beverages at the resort’s restaurants, VIP butler service, and 24 hour room service.
Grand Club also offers a chance to enjoy water sport rentals, take the ferry to Isla Mujeres, and spa services.
Grand Fiesta Coral Beach has Gem Spa, a 40,000 square foot wellness center, that I can easily say is one of the best spas in Mexico. Children will love the Coral KidZ Club with its craft and cooking classes and tweens will love the gaming area with all of the newest video games.
There’s also an outdoor private water park area for kids, as well as a basketball court and race track for remote control cars. This may be one of the best all inclusive resorts in Mexico for kids.
Accommodations are ocean view suites (yes, all of them) and families can swim in one of the resort pools or right off the beach. It’s perfect for everyone.
Grand Velas – Riviera Maya
Grand Velas Riviera Maya is expansive. Set on over 200 acres, the property offers three different experiences for guests. Grand Class Experience is for a romantic escape, the Zen Grand Experience (a jungle setting, set away from the main resort, kids welcome), and the family-friendly Ambassador Experience, where guest rooms are closer to the kids’ club, teen club, and fitness center.
Families will love the global menu at Grand Velas, with many food options, including French, Asian, and Italian. Suites are extremely large (between 1100 and 1200 square feet depending on location), and offer sea views or an intimate jungle/garden setting.
The Kids’ Club is for ages 4 to 12. Teens will love the Teen Club offers karaoke, video games, and movies too. From swimming in the infinity pools to taking out the kayaks and boogie boards, there are endless activities. No one will be bored at Grand Velas.
Hard Rock Hotel – Riviera Maya
The Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun has great room features and themes suited to adults and children. Their kid packages start at newborns up so mom and dad have some free time.
The arcades, pools, beautiful beaches, and planned daily entertainment will keep the whole family active. There are several gourmet restaurants on-site, from pizza to Asian cuisine.
Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club offers endless entertainment options for all ages. Kids can play water games, karaoke, snorkel, and build sand castles. The schedule changes daily, so expect your kids to visit the kids club every day.
Parents can also purchase babysitting packages for the little ones and borrow baby and toddler essentials so they don’t have to pack them.
Kids aged twelve and above can experience Hard Rock’s Music Lab, where they can have their moment to shine. Guests can join a jam session, spin some tunes, have studio time, and even star in their own videos. One thing is for sure, your kids will want to return to Hard Rock Rivera Maya.
*Note: children under 18 must have an adult with them to visit the water park, gym, and check out basketballs/volleyballs poolside. Our teens hated this, but I’m sure younger children won’t mind.
Hotel Xcaret bills itself as an All Fun Inclusive resort, with unlimited access to the Xcaret adventure parks. (Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xavage, Xoximilco, and Xenses, as well as tours to Xenotes and Xichen).
Their luxury accommodations at Hotel Xcaret include suites, junior suites, and swim-up suites, all with stunning garden or ocean views. The property also includes transportation from the Cancún airport and to their adventure parks as part of your booking, so there’s no need to rent a car in Mexico.
Kids will love to explore Mexico beyond the resorts and the Xcaret adventure parks, but there is also plenty to do on property as well. There are white sand beaches, jungle trails for exploring, and even river activities like kayaking at paddle boarding available.
The Xiquillos Kids Club has all-day activities and the Xiipal family club has a pool table, air hockey, and foosball table for families to enjoy throughout their stay.
Grand Residences – Puerto Morelos
Grand Residences is a family-friendly, all-suite resort located in Puerto Morelos, a charming fishing village about 20-30 minutes from the Cancún airport.
Junior suites come with ocean views, balconies, and kitchenettes. The master suites come in 1 to 3-bedroom configurations, complete with full kitchens and washer/dryer units.
Families who prefer the all-inclusive to the self-catering option can choose to do so. Children ages 12 and under stay at the resort complimentary.
The onsite Kids Club offers interactive activities for guests ages 12 and under to have fun and be immersed in the local culture. Activities include games like Lotería (Spanish bingo), creating sugar skulls for Día de Los Muertos, making masks and bracelets, and even piñatas.
Families can enjoy activities both on the property and at the hotel’s private beach as the resort offers several unique options. There’s a cooking class, Zoomba, and even Spanish lessons. Guests can stop in at the sports desk and try kayaking, snorkeling, tennis, or golf equipment.
Or book a guided bike tour into Puerto Morelos. Whatever your family loves to do, you’re sure to find it at Grand Residences.
All Inclusive Mexico Resorts in Los Cabos
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos
There are plenty of family-friendly resorts in Cabo. Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is located in San José del Cabo, a quick 20-minute right from the Los Cabos airport. There are both swim-up suites, large master suites (with either a king or two doubles), and even a two-bedroom ocean view suite (quite possibly my favorite on the property). There is a beautiful main pool area and a KidZ pool and waterpark near the kids club.
The Kids Club is perfect for younger kids with its playground, fun games (like board games and Spanish classes), and water park. Older kids will enjoy the teen hangout space with a pool table, foosball, and Xbox stations. The staff is really good at getting all kids involved in activities.
There’s a Zen Spa on the property if mom and dad want some relaxation time and there are seven on-site restaurants, including a Teppanyaki grill.
One and Only Palmilla
Although this luxury Cabo hotel comes with a bigger price tag than most, families will definitely love the One&Only in Cabo. The property has lush landscaping and is meticulously maintained. Every one of the rooms has an ocean view and 24-hour butler service, which is worth its weight in gold.
The dining scene is just as impressive with a Michelin Star chef-led restaurant and farm-to-table cuisine at Agua. This is easily one of the best Mexico resorts for families in Cancun.
One&Only Palmilla’s Kids Only Club will entertain children between ages 4 and 11. There’s a babysitter available for infants and toddlers so parents can find some free time away from the kids, no matter their age.
Some of the activities kids will love include Spanish language classes and piñata making. Older kids will enjoy taking a surfing class with a pro surfer or trying out a stand-up paddleboard.
Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos
Located between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos has an enormous property that is extremely family-friendly. There are five pools on the property, a golf course, and a swimmable beach (not very common in Cabo).
Accommodations at Grand Fiesta Americana are perfect for families and groups. There are rooms, family suites, and villas available and every one of them has ocean, sunset, or garden views.
The Fiesta Kids Club is perfect for kids ages four to twelve, and staff organizes daily games, both inside and at the pool and beach. There’s also a Mayan playground and a waterpark that kids will love. Teens will love the pool games, ping pong, and snorkeling right off the beach.
Food offerings include Italian, Japanese, seafood, and buffet options all day, so kids who aren’t adventurous foodies can always find something they love.
Paradisus Los Cabos
Located between the Los Cabos airport and Cabo San Lucas is Paradisus Los Cabos, a luxury all-inclusive kid-friendly resort. This property has Family Concierge suites which have additional amenities such as a Family Concierge Lounge with all-day access and snacks for kids.
In the suites, you’ll find a turndown service for kids with milk and cookies as well as video game consoles on request.
Kids will love swimming in the pool or walking on the beach, but they are just as likely to enjoy the Kids Zone where they can play games, watch movies, or play on the playground (ages 4-12).
Upstairs, there is a section for older kids (ages 8-12) with video games and a foosball table. Teens are welcome to hang out here as well, but they can also try water polo or volleyball in the pool area.
Parents will love the Michelin Star chef restaurant, and the breakfast buffet has everything kids could want, including a make-your-own egg and omelet station.
Velas Vallarta – Puerto Vallarta
Velas Vallarta is an all-inclusive family resort and one of the best hotels in Puerto Vallarta. Located on 10 oceanfront acres with lush gardens and the emerald waters of Banderas Bay, Velas Vallarta features 345 one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites.
There are two swimming pools, one is oceanfront, and they are connected by a lazy river. Restaurants with nightly theme dinners and local specialties are sure to please even the most discerning palates, and suite service is available around the clock.
Led by the resort’s mascot turtle, Franki, the extensive Kids’ Club program at Velas Vallarta features a dedicated children’s area with cozy spots for arts and crafts, video games, and movies.
The entire family can enjoy activities offered daily for children ages 4 to 12 and updated every season including tennis clinics, cooking lessons, magic comedy, bonfires on the beach, Mexican bingo, sea turtle conservation & release, karaoke, and calavera (ceramic skull) painting.

Book Your Transportation
For rental car agencies, try Rentalcars.com. We tend to use Hertz simply for the quality of service.

We regularly used companies like Viator and GetYourGuide to book tours when we travel. Both have great communication and a large variety of activities that work for all ages.
If you’re visiting a city with multiple attractions, be sure to check out a discount pass, such as CityPASS or Go City. Tiqets is another place to purchase tickets for attractions.
Context Travel is another option and they offer more educational based activities. The former teacher in me loves their tours.
One of our favorite things to do annually is take photos with Flytographer. They have photographers around the world and we’ve used them on four separate occasions. This is our favorite travel souvenir.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
With the state of travel these days, it’s important to have some type of travel insurance to cover any unforeseen accidents, illnesses, threat or cancellations. We always travel with insurance and would recommend SquareMouth, Travelex, or Medjet as good options. And if you want to compare different insurance options, use Travel Insurance Master to find the best policy for your group.
