Best All Inclusive Mexico Resorts for Families
Mexico makes for an easy family vacation from the United States and Canada, since flights can be fairly short and the weather is almost always warm and sunny. When traveling with children it is important to find a kid-friendly resort in Mexico that offers plenty of entertainment and food options. It also helps if the property has a kids’ club and offers on-site activities or off-site excursions, providing an opportunity to explore Mexico beyond the resorts. Here are some of the best all inclusive Mexico resorts for families.

Best All Inclusive Resorts in Mexico for Families
All Inclusive Resorts in Cancún for Families
Finest Playa Mujeres – Cancun
This family friendly all inclusive resort in Mexico is one of three of the Excellence properties located on Playa Mujeres, outside of the Cancun tourist zone. The adjacent properties, Beloved and Excellence, are adults-only.
Finest Playa Mujeres is divided into two areas, family friendly and adults-only. It’s an invisible line, but it seems to work. Some family rooms have a walk-out swimming pool. I would recommend against this if your kids are little, but otherwise, it’s a pretty nice option to have.
The Kids’ Club at Finest Playa Mujeres requires children between the ages of 3 and 6 years must have a parent stay with them, or the family has the option to hire a nanny to watch over the children (this is charged hourly). This is one of the most toddler friendly resorts in Mexico.
Children aged 7 and older can be in the kids’ club, but need to be signed in and out by parents. Each day there are different games, crafts, and hands-on activities for the kids.
Outside the kids’ club, children will enjoy the water play area, the swimming pools, the kids’ spa, and activities like kayaking and snorkeling. This is one of the best all-inclusive resorts for families.

Paradisus La Esmeralda – Playa del Carmen
Paradisus Playa del Carmen is divided into a kid friendly side and an adult side (La Perla) so it is possible to sneak away for some quiet time. Kids ages 5 to 12 will love the Kids Zone with its daily crafts and activities on the beach. Children ages 1 to 4 can stay in the daycare room and babysitting is available 24 hours a day.
Teens will enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, and the game room. Paradisus also has a family waterpark that kids will love.
The swim up hotel rooms on the first floor are worth the expense, as they allow families to relax right outside the room. Try the Family Concierge Service for additional amenities such as welcome packages for kids, milk and cookie turndown service, and an Xbox in your suite on request.
Paradisus has 14 different dining options to suit all tastes, big and small. The Paradisus La Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen will be enjoyed by all ages.
(Note: There is also a Paradisus Cancun that is close to the Cancun airport (this one is about 45 minutes away), similar amenities and a great family option as well).

If you’re there during this time, you might just spot a turtle or two while snorkeling in Tulum!
The Mayan-themed Explorer’s Club is perfect for children ages 3-12. There’s a water park, weekly campouts, and daily activities based around nature, science, and exploration. The Core Zone teen program allows teenagers ages 13 to 17 to meet new friends, try new sports (like beach soccer), and even snorkel.

If your family knows they want to stay in a vacation rental, we recommend looking at VRBO and Plum Guide.
Book Your Transportation
For rental car agencies, try Rentalcars.com. We tend to use Hertz simply for the quality of service.
Book Your Tours and Travel Photos
We regularly used companies like Viator and GetYourGuide to book tours when we travel. Both have great communication and a large variety of activities that work for all ages.
If you’re visiting a city with multiple attractions, be sure to check out a discount pass, such as CityPASS or Go City. Both are worthwhile investments.
Context Travel is another option and they offer more educational-based activities. The former teacher in me loves their tours.
One of our favorite things to do annually is taking photos with Flytographer. They have photographers around the world and we’ve used them on four separate occasions. This is our favorite travel souvenir.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
With the state of travel these days, it’s important to have some type of travel insurance to cover any unforeseen accidents, illnesses, threats, or cancellations. We always travel with insurance and would recommend SquareMouth, Travelex, or Medjet as good options. And if you want to compare different insurance options, use Travel Insurance Master to find the best policy for your group.
