Travel Apps for Planning Travel
Travelocity
The Travelocity app does a little bit of everything. It’s a one stop shop for booking hotels, flights, cars, activities, and vacation packages. The app tracks upcoming travel itineraries (and updates any changes in real time), and there are agents available to chat 24/7 if you have questions. I love the level of detail in this app. Searches provide details and discounts, and bookings happen at the touch of a button. Download the app HERE
Roadtrippers
This app is perfect for road trips, as it shows stops along a route for any type of adventure. Users can choose to add stops that include “Things to Do”, “Points of Interest”, and/or “Amusement and Nightlife” and save them to their own map. The app also has free guides with pre-planned itineraries to help with vacation planning. Download on Google HERE or iOS HERE
Travel Apps to Make Travel Easier
Packpoint
I hate to admit it, but I always forget something when we travel. I’m so glad I discovered this free travel packing list organizer that checks the weather, creates a custom packing list, and allows you to share the list with others. This last part is huge, because I’m always copying lists to share with the rest of my family. The packing lists can be based on weather, length of trip, and activities, and also allow customization. Genius! Download on Google HERE or iOS HERE
Sleep Pillow
If you have a restless sleeper in your group, or have difficulty sleeping in new destinations, be sure to download this white noise app. Sleeping in a noisy hotel? Turn it on, and drift off to sleep. There are over 300,000 sound combinations and the premium version has an alarm clock. We’ve never slept better!
Citymapper
Citymapper is a transit app allowing users to plan trips from point A to point B using multiple modes of transportation (walking, subway, Uber, bicycle, etc.). The app covers 38 different destinations, including many major cities in the US and international destinations. It will show the cost, traffic/construction delays, and step by step directions to get you to your destination on time. Download on Google HERE or iOS HERE
Travel Apps for Overseas Travel
XE Currency
When traveling abroad, it can be hard to convert foreign currency on the spot. That’s where XE Currency comes in handy. This app allows you to access the current exchange rates and convert with confidence. I highly recommend having this on your phone. Download on Google HERE or iOS HERE
Google Translate
Don’t speak another language? No need to worry, Google Translate has you covered. Enter text and the app can translate between 103 languages. The app can even translate 59 languages without internet connection. One of my favorite features is the instant camera translation when you point your camera at the word(s) in question and Google translates it. Simply amazing! Download on Google HERE or iOS HERE
Photo App to Take Better Travel Photos
Snapseed
This photo editing app will take your travel photos to the next level with the ability to make quick changes to image saturation, shadows, and lighting. There are also filters, photo frames, and textures to add. Play around with it and create unique images. Export the ones you like to your camera roll and share them with your friends. Download on Google HERE or iOS HERE
