Girls Weekend Getaway to Bryan Texas

There are so many places to visit in Texas, and slowly, but surely, I’m visiting them all. I took a road trip from Dallas to Bryan and found it to be the perfect destination for a trip with friends. It has a winery, awesome restaurants, cute shops, and year round festivals and events. Here’s what to see and do on a girls weekend getaway to Bryan.

What to do in Bryan Texas on a Girls Trip

Bryan is centrally located. It’s an easy weekend getaway from Dallas (just 2.5 hours) and 1.5 hours from Austin and Houston. Some people know it as Bryan-College Station since the two towns surround Texas A&M University. It may feel like a college town, but Bryan has its own identity, and is definitely deserving of a fun trip with girlfriends.

Messina Hof Winery

If you’re from Texas, odds are you know about Messina Hof. This winery is one of the largest and oldest in the state and the place where the winery began. Show up early with your friends because we are sure you will want to spend the entire day here.

Start with a tour of the property’s vineyards where you will not only learn about the history of Messina Hof, but about the different varietals grown on site. You can also take a peek at The Villa, the on-site bed and breakfast, where every room is named after romantic or historic fictional characters like Romeo and Juliet.

After the tour, be sure to stop in the tasting room and sample the wines. The outdoor patio has a beautiful view over a man-made pond, perfect for relaxing and enjoying snacks and vino.

The winery has a variety of events throughout the year, including a Harvest Festival and Oktoberfest celebration, so plan your trip accordingly and you can join in the fun!

Shopping in Downtown Bryan

Bryan’s historic downtown, is the quintessential spot for shopping with friends. There’s everything from antique stores to art galleries and boutique shops. No matter what your group is looking for, there will surely be a place they want to shop.

Shopping in Bryan
Sparrow Lane has such fun decor and home goods!

If you’re looking for antiques, head to Corner of Time Antique Mall with a little bit of everything and even an old time soda fountain. For unique home goods, be sure to stop at Sparrow Lane. Those looking for a custom souvenir to take home should try Catalena Hatters, a family run hat shop that will find the hat that perfectly suits you. Texas Rose Boutique has beautiful outfits and charming accessories for everyone.

Downtown Bryan is perfect for a day out at the stores, and when you get hungry, there are plenty of good spots to eat nearby.

First Friday

If you time it right, be sure to enjoy one of the best events in Bryan, First Friday. Taking place the first Friday of every month, the city shuts down some of its main streets so everyone can enjoy the local street festival. There’s live music, vendors, and even special events. All of the restaurants and stores stay open and the community comes out to support them. It is one of the best ways to kick off the weekend!

Lake Walk Town Center

If you want to be active in Bryan, head to Lake Walk with its 5 acre lake and observation tower. Guests of the nearby Stella Hotel have access to the property’s bikes and paddle boards, or simply take a walk around the lake.

There is a coffee shop in the complex (POV) as well as a restaurant (Campfire) if you need some nourishment after your exercise.

Visit the Brazos Valley Farmers’ Market

Want to see what the locals are selling at the market? Head to the Brazos Valley Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 8 to noon at the north end of Main Street. There’s everything from dog biscuits to flowers to fruits and vegetables. It’s a great way to meet and support the local businesses.

Places to eat in Bryan Texas

If you are visiting Bryan, bring your appetite, because the food here is delicious! There is no such thing as a bad meal in Bryan. Here are some of our favorite restaurants:

Ronin

Ronin came about after the owners had success with dinners at their farm. The restaurant is an extension of their full moon dinners and diners can expect delectable fresh-from-the-farm meals. Ronin is located in a former ice house and their menu changes daily based on what’s currently growing on the farm. I highly recommend the scallops and their “Pretty in Pink” cocktail.

RX Pizza

Located in a former pharmacy, Rx Pizza has a welcoming environment, perfect for groups. There’s an outdoor patio space and indoors is cozy and comfortable. The pizza is delicious, and their salads are generously sized. A fun space to hang out any night of the week.

Polite Coffee

Another business housed in an historic property, Polite Coffee can be found inside Kyle House, an 1800s Victorian home. Polite Coffee is run by Steve, a former Army Ranger and Texas A & M grad. Steve had a vision to brew and roast quality coffee and hire an amazingly polite staff to serve customers. Grab the girls and come enjoy some coffee and treats!

The Village Cafe

This eclectic coffee house is popular with locals and tourists alike. Visit for brunch and enjoy a breakfast panini, sammie, or salad. The restaurant has a central downtown location with outdoor seating and live music too. It’s the perfect spot for gathering with friends.

Cilantro Mexican Grill

You can’t visit Bryan and not eat Mexican food. While there are a ton of good options, we really enjoyed Cilantro Mexican Grill. The space has a mix of unique and traditional Mexico decor with authentic dishes. Don’t miss their fajitas, tacos al carbon, and margaritas!

Caffé Capri

And still another business housed in an historic building, Caffé Capri is a family run, traditional Italian restaurant. You cannot go wrong with any of the dishes, from their signature bowtie pasta dish to their gluten free option. Grab your friends and come hungry!

Where to Stay in Bryan Texas

The Stella Hotel

For the perfect girlfriend getaway in Bryan, I would highly recommend The Stella Hotel. Located in Lake Walk, many of the rooms overlook the lake and the action at the park. Rooms are extremely comfortable and feature stylish, modern decor. The Stella Hotel was voted the #3 hotel in Texas by Condé Nast, an accolade that is well deserved.

Amenities at The Stella include: a fitness room, complimentary bicycles and paddle boards, two outdoor swimming pools with five cabanas, and free parking. They will ensure you have an amazing stay in Bryan.
