Girls Getaway to Hyatt Zilara Cancun
When’s the last time your did something for yourself? I mean, really stopped everything and just focused on taking care of your body, mind, and soul? When I was asked to visit the adults only, all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara Cancun for a girls wellness getaway, how could I say no?
A chance to get away from the craziness of school routines, work, and household duties, and just focus on being healthy isn’t an opportunity that comes along very often, so of course I didn’t hesitate. Once I arrived, I connected with several other journalists who were there seeking the same experience, so it turned in to an awesome girls getaway to Hyatt Zilara Cancun.

Where is Hyatt Zilara Cancun?
Hyatt Zilara Cancun is located about 20 minutes from the Cancun airport in the Zona Hotelera (Hotel Zone). This adults only, all-inclusive property occupies the widest stretch of beach in the area. It has easy access to downtown Cancun, and guests can arrange day trips to Tulum, Cozumel, and other destinations along the Riviera Maya using the on-site tour planners, but many find the property has everything they need for a perfect vacation.
Accommodations at Hyatt Zilara Cancun
Hyatt Zilara has 307 luxury suites and six different room categories, all with beautiful ocean, pool, or resort views. I stayed in a king size, ocean view junior suite, and the room had a desk, table with two chairs, jacuzzi tub for two, spacious bathroom and closet, and a balcony with a hammock. It was 653 square feet of living space for me and me alone. It was heavenly.
The room also has a Nespresso coffee maker (my favorite), a “Magic Box” for 24 hour room service (they deliver food to this box so you never have to see staff), and a stocked refrigerator (beer, soda, and snacks). I honestly could have stayed in my room the entire time if I wanted.
Those wanting the ultimate escape will want to look into one of the swim-up suites. These have their own semi-private swimming pools and are located poolside or beach front.
All-Inclusive Dining at the Resort
We had some fabulous meals at Hyatt Zilara’s restaurants. From breakfast to dinner, there was always delicious food to be found.
Spice is the property’s main indoor dining spot and home to one of the hotel’s breakfast buffets (the other is at Pelicano’s which is beachfront). The buffet has an endless amount of selections from pastries and cereals, to made to order omelettes and hot breakfast dishes. My favorite was the made to order smoothie bar with fresh fruit options every morning. At lunch and in the evening Spice serves different types of cuisine, from Indian to Italian. I never had a bad meal here.
For those who just want a quick morning breakfast, there’s Casa del Café, the resort’s coffee shop. This is where guests can order cappuccinos, croissants, muffins, and cookies. It’s also the perfect stop for afternoon or late night gelato. Yum!
The first night we enjoyed a mezcal tasting and tapas at La Adelita Cantina. This was followed by a full dinner at the upscale Mexican restaurant, Maria Marie. I am a sucker for good Mexican food, and both of these restaurants delivered.
Asiana is the on-site Japanese restaurant with a Teppanyaki cooking show, sushi, and sashimi. We had a spectacular selection of the chef’s favorites and it was easily one of my favorite restaurants on property. Don’t miss a meal here.
If you’re visiting for a special occasion be sure to make a reservation at the Chef’s Plate. The hotel’s executive chef prepares a special six course meal in an intimate setting for a memorable dining experience.
Relaxing at the beach and by the pool
There’s a beautiful ocean front pool with a swim up bar and a small infinity edge lap pool outside the workout facility.
The beach has awesome two story and single story cabanas available for guests. There’s a full service bar that sits on the beach with perfect ocean views.
Fun On-Site Activities at Hyatt Zilara Cancun
At Hyatt Zilara Cancun, there are plenty of on-site activities to keep guests entertained. Every day the resort presents a daily schedule with a variety of choices, from cocktail making to cooking lessons to water aerobics.
What I loved were the active classes that were included with my stay. One morning we did morning yoga on the beach. It was worth waking up for the spectacular setting and enjoying the moment. Another day was pilates on a reformer machine (no extra charge for this). I’ve never tried this before, but I loved it. And for those who are interested, they also offer pole dancing classes. I’m sure that’s a great time!
One of the most unique experiences was the apothecary class we tried at the Zen Spa. There’s a special workshop available at Alquimia, where we created our own scrubs and moisturizers based on our favorite scent preferences. It was super fun to do as a group and we were able to take our own spa products home!
Spa Time at Hyatt Zilara
Of course no girls getaway would be complete without time at the spa. Hyatt Zilara Cancun just renovated their Zen Spa, drawing inspiration from Mayan culture and traditions. The new design features over 22,000 square feet of treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy circuit, outdoor lounge area, and salon space.
I was lucky enough to try the hydrotherapy circuit which included a sauna, herbal steam, and a cold plunge. The entire experience was quite invigorating. Afterwards, I had the Mayan Massage, also known as the Signature Zen Massage. A combination of deep tissue, hot stones, and Swedish techniques, it was one of THE BEST massages I’ve ever had.
Evening Entertainment at Hyatt Zilara
Every evening Hyatt Zilara’s lobby becomes a stage as different shows are performed. One night was an awesome Cirque du Soleil style show with a Greek mythology theme, another night was a Mayan warrior show. I love that Hyatt Zilara brings the entertainment to you so you never have to leave the property.
Hyatt Zilara Cancun has everything you need in an all-inclusive property. Luxurious rooms, a fabulous spa, delicious food, and a stellar staff. The entire place was all about relaxation and rejuvenation, and I can’t wait to experience it again.
