What Families Will Love About Club Med Québec Charlevoix
Club Med’s property is the perfect family getaway any time of year. In the summer, there are outdoor activities in spades. In winter, the property offers a ski-in, ski-out experience as it is located at the base of Le Massif de Charlevoix ski resort. No matter which season you choose, we are sure you will find plenty to love about Club Med.
A large variety of activities
Every day at Club Med there is a schedule of activities (these can be found on the Club Med app or posted throughout the resort). Families can choose from dozens of options throughout the day, from morning yoga classes to circus lessons and ping pong tournaments.
Those who prefer making their own itinerary can enjoy any of the numerous activities available on the property. In addition to hiking and mountain biking, there’s basketball, miniature golf, soccer, volleyball, and of course, swimming in the indoor pool. Daredevils can try the circus lessons, but we prefer to keep both feet on the ground.
One day we rode the tram to the top of Le Massif to hike, but plenty of others were bringing their mountain bikes to ride the trails (Club Med offers hiking and biking adventures).
After we finished, we played soccer and basketball on the outdoor court, followed by a round of miniature golf. On another day we enjoyed a game of ping pong and swimming in the indoor pool. We were never bored and had endless options for fun.
Rooms and suites that work for families
Club Med Québec Charlevoix has 302 rooms and 25 suites. Both the Superior and Deluxe can sleep up to 3 (but beds can be added for more children or rooms can be connected). Deluxe rooms have views of the St. Lawrence River and Superior Rooms have forest views.
For those wanting more space, we recommend the Exclusive Collection Suites, where accommodations are suites with separate bedrooms for parents and kids.
We stayed in one of these suites and there were two bedrooms, two full baths, a living room, and a large balcony. The master bathroom has a soaking tub, and robes and slippers are provided.
There’s even a mud room in the entryway for leaving gear (I imagine this is especially helpful in the winter). The views of the St. Lawrence River were breathtaking and perfect to wake up to every morning.
Amenities in the suites include three televisions (one per room), a beverage-stocked mini-bar (replenished daily), a Lavazzo coffee maker, a bluetooth speaker to play music from your phone, and a tablet that communicates with your dedicated Exclusive Collection concierge.
A little more about the Exclusive Collection Suites
Guests staying in the Exclusive Collection Suites will have the highest level of service available at Club Med. In addition to the all-inclusive experience, families can enjoy the following:
- A personal check-in and check-out experience
- Priority reservations at the resort’s restaurants
- Premium wi-fi
- Private transportation
- An option for breakfast served in the room
- Daily champagne at 6pm. Food is available in the lounge throughout the day and every evening has featured cocktails (and a mocktail)
- Private hot tubs available for Exclusive Collection guests. These must be reserved, but they offer stunning views of the property, forest, and St. Lawrence river
- A dedicated concierge to arrange any tours, make reservations, and answer any questions. Our concierge arranged a day trip to Québec City with a guided tour and lunch at Le Sam in Le Château Frontenac with a table overlooking the city’s promenade. It was a perfect day trip from the property.
Childcare, a kids’ club, teen club, and nighttime entertainment at Club Med Québec
The resort has many options for kids no matter their ages. Club Med Baby is a child care service available for those under 2 years of age. Children between 2 and 3 years old can attend Petit Club Med. Those between ages 4 and 10 can attend Mini Club Med with games, sports, and craft activities.
There is a teen club at the resort (Passworld), but it was not available when we were there (although there is a schedule on the door so you can see what is available and when). Some activities include a scavenger hunt and virtual escape room.
Every night there is entertainment at Club Med. One night we enjoyed a musical called Chromatica, the next night was a live band, and the final evening was the Music Factory show. Children are welcome at all of these performances. Every night there is late-night music and a dance party from 10pm – 1am that older teens might enjoy.
Amazing Amenities for Parents and Kids
Club Med Spa by Sothys
The Club Med Spa by Sothys is a welcome amenity for any parent. After a day enjoying the resort’s amenities, be sure to book time for some special pampering. Services offered include massages, a thermal circuit (with hot and cold plunge pools and sauna), and facials.
Gym equipment, studio, and cycling studio
The fitness center at Club Med is quite sufficient with a dozen pieces of cardio equipment, free weights, and machines. There is also a fitness studio where classes like yoga and pilates are held, and a cycling studio with 20 bikes. If you want to work out on vacation, there are plenty of choices!
Indoor swimming pool
There is a 25-meter indoor lap pool at Club Med. In the morning it is perfect for swimming laps, but the rest of the day it’s all about families splashing and having fun.
There’s a small splash pool for kids and even a dedicated play area on the pool deck. The pool area has a stunning view overlooking the trees and St. Lawrence River.
All meals are included and parents can enjoy an open bar
Currently, there are two restaurants on the property, Le Chalet Gourmet Lounge and Le Marché (the main buffet-style restaurant). A third restaurant, Terroir & Co is scheduled to open later this summer.
You must make reservations for dining at Le Chalet where they specialize in “dinner à la bonne franquette” (family-style dishes highlighting regional favorites and flavors). We had dinner here one night and all of the dishes were very good.
The menu is similar to a prix fixe menu and we noticed that surrounding tables received their courses at the same time as us. This is great if you’re in a large party, but for a party of 2, the service seemed very slow.
Le Marché is very similar to the type of dining you would find on a cruise ship with dishes from around the world available for each meal of the day. It is open seating and you can eat when you choose within the set times for meals.
If you are interested in drinking there is an open bar in the theater. They serve anything you want and can even create mocktails for kids.
Gratuities included
One nice thing about the Club Med experience is that gratuities are included. This is great so you don’t have to get out your wallet all of the time. However, if someone goes above and beyond feel free to give them a little extra.
If you haven’t been to a Club Med property before, you’re definitely in for a treat. With everything covered, from activities to meals, and everything in between, it’s easy for families to find something everyone will love. A stay at Club Med Québec Charlevoix might just be your most relaxing vacation ever.
