Spring break is our favorite time of year. A time to leave Chicago’s wintry weather and head for warmer destinations. We’re not the typical family that returns to the same destination year after year, so we’ve covered quite a bit of ground over the years. We’ve tried Florence, Venice, and Rome, and were surprised that Easter in Italy is not as warm as one might expect. Another year we tried spring training baseball in Phoenix and enjoyed the wonderful weather Arizona has to offer. This past year it was Paris and Lisbon, and we had sunshine for the majority of our eleven day adventure. Do you see the pattern? Warm weather always plays a role for us, but we wanted to put together some additional spring break ideas for families to help with your planning.
Spring Break Ideas for Families to Add to Their List
Does your family like the snow? How about a destination like Lake Tahoe, Taos, or Park City? Want to hit the beach? Why not head to San Diego, Sanibel, or Gulf Shores, Alabama? Love the city? Washington, D.C. will be crowded, but the cherry trees will be blooming. New York City will be crowded (as always), but there are plenty of things to do with kids. Denver offers the best of both worlds with a vibrant city vacation mixed with skiing nearby. Want to get off the beaten path and try some under the radar spots? Might we recommend Zion/St. George, The Golden Isles of Georgia, Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Kiawah, and the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia? You can head over to Travelocity and read our article Best Under-the-Radar Spring Break Spots for Families to learn more. Safe travels!
