When we travel as a family, I’m always looking for ways to save money. With three growing boys, I need to find ways to cut costs without taking away from the travel experience. I recently discovered the Dosh App and used it to book travel on our recent spring break trip. It was so easy to use, I want to share it with you!

How the Dosh App Saves Money on Travel
What Is the Dosh App?
Dosh is a cash-back app that makes it easy to get money back in your pocket for every day purchases. Users can find stores, restaurants, and other merchants nearby who offer a percentage of the purchase price as cash-back. You can also use the app to book travel and find on-line discounts. There are no coupon codes, mail-in rebates, or receipt photos, which means less hassle for you. It’s an easy app to use with minimal work on your part.
How Does the Dosh App Work?
To begin, I simply downloaded the Dosh App and entered my credit card. Whenever I am about to buy something, I can look at the Dosh app and see if a nearby merchant is offering discounts. Or if I am looking for something particular, I can find a merchant who partners with Dosh, and make a purchase. Merchants run the gamut from Gap to Target to Four Seasons. Each one offers a cash back percentage of the purchase price.
A couple of days after the transaction is complete, the cash back appears in my account (with a nice notification from Dosh saying it’s there). Those Dosh Dollars can be exchanged for cash via PayPal or through your bank account, but know that the minimum for retrieval is $15. There’s also an option to donate your Dosh cash to charity.
How Can You Book Travel with Dosh?
I thought it was fairly easy to use Dosh for booking travel. On the bottom of the screen is a suitcase icon that says “Travel”. Click this, enter your location, dates, and number in your party, and Dosh pulls up a list of available hotels. Dosh will automatically sort by the property offering the most cash back, but you can also sort by price, distance, and rating.
I used Dosh on a recent spring break trip with my boys. I used it to book two separate stays, one in Louisville at The Brown Hotel and one in Nashville at the Kimpton Aertson. A week before the trip I received notice of my itinerary along with confirmation which was a nice touch. Another one followed a day before our stay. The Brown Hotel was lovely, and we had a nice corner room which was quite spacious. A couple of days later I received a notification from Dosh that the cash back from our stay was already in my account. I should note I received a $5 bonus just for signing up for Dosh and a $25 bonus for booking my first hotel stay. So I already have close to $50 sitting in my account.
Our stay at Kimpton Aertson in Nashville was just as lovely with a spacious balcony room in a great location. In a few days I expect to see additional Dosh cash show up in my account.
It’s pretty easy to use and I couldn’t believe the massive network of hotels and activities they have available. Everything can be sorted by destination, so when you’re traveling somewhere, just plug in the city and Dosh will tell you what’s available with cash back rewards. It’s definitely worth checking into before your next trip.
Is The Dosh App Worth It?
Absolutely! Planning a travel and saving for trips is a breeze with Dosh. There was no investment to set it up, just downloading it to my phone. I was very pleased with the ease of booking and the constant communication from Dosh regarding my booking confirmation information and the payment of my cash back. This is an easy app to use and I plan to keep for awhile. So what are you waiting for? Head over to the Apple iTunes Store or the Google Play Store and download Dosh today!
