The holidays are quickly approaching and if you’re like me, you still haven’t begun your shopping. We’ve shared our favorite gifts for women and some unique gifts for kids of all ages, so it only seems fair to share our favorite holiday gift ideas for guys. Hopefully you will find a few things to add to their list.
As a child, one of our favorite family traditions was watching animated holiday specials on television. Every year my sister and I anxiously awaited the premiere of our all time holiday favorite, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”. You know the one I’m talking about, where Rudolph is left out of the reindeer games in Christmas-town. Imagine my delight when I found out Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical is coming to The Chicago Theatre!
As we continue with our Holiday Celebrations Around the World series, I am excited to introduce Mar from Once in a Lifetime Journey sharing her thoughts on the celebration of Caga Tio in Catalunya, Spain. It’s not your typical holiday celebration, but one I definitely wanted to learn more about and share with others. I hope you enjoy Mar’s post as much as I do.
This week’s holiday celebrations around the world features a country I know very little about, Ethiopia. Amber from Global Munchkins is sharing the fascinating history of one of the world’s oldest nations. The celebration may be quite different from a traditional western Christmas, but it extremely festive in its own way.
As we continue with our Holiday Celebrations Around the World Series, we have Jen from Word Traveling sharing her thoughts on Christmas in Germany. Since we just returned from two weeks exploring the Christmas markets in Germany, I am happy Jen is sharing some of the background and history that surrounds the German holiday traditions. We enjoyed strolling the different markets, sampling the lebkuchen and glühwein, and shopping for traditional handicrafts such as wooden ornaments and paper star lanterns. Everything about the experience was magical!
For some reason I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the holidays this year. I know it’s here, but I’m certainly not ready. This week I am lucky to have Margarita from Downshifting Pro sharing her stories about their family’s bi-cultural traditions mixing Christmas in Canada and Colombia. With her Colombian heritage and her husband’s Canadian roots, they have come together to make new traditions for their family. It’s so interesting to see the similarities and differences between Christmas in the two cultures and see how they incorporate these traditions in their holiday celebrations. I hope you’ll enjoy this as much as I do and thanks Margarita for sharing in our Holiday Celebrations Around the World Series!
London is one of those fabulous cities I long to return to again and again, so I’m thrilled to have Anna from Four Kids One Mom Guide to London sharing the inside scoop on a traditional Christmas in London! As part of our Holiday Celebrations Around the World, we’re exploring the holidays in different countries. I’m enjoying learning about new cultures and traditions every week and I hope you are too!
