When planning a trip to Rome, many people often look for day trips from the city, or other areas to explore. While it is possible to explore Pompeii and even Sorrento in a day, we would recommend spending at least a night in the area when traveling with kids. Sorrento has spectacular vistas, abundant lemon trees, and a charming town square. Pompeii is perfect for kids to run and explore, weaving in and out of the ruins as children would have before it was destroyed. Capri is charming and elegant, a worthwhile boat ride from Sorrento. So instead of rushing through a journey south, make plans to stay awhile and enjoy the area of Sorrento, Capri, and Pompeii with kids.
December is a magical time to celebrate the holidays in Chicago as the city puts its best foot forward. There are traditions aplenty throughout Chicagoland, if you know where to look. Everything kicks off of Saturday, November 19th with the 25th annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, a tree-lighting parade along Michigan Avenue. Grand Marshals Mickey and Minnie Mouse lead characters from Disney World, beautiful floats, and marching bands from along the route. Once the tree is lit, the rest of the city rolls out the holiday finery. Here are some of the best events to celebrate the holidays in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
I am thrilled to have Jody Halsted from Ireland Family Vacations sharing her top destinations in Ireland for families. She is the person I go to for all things Ireland related, and she should be your first choice for questions too. Here are her family favorites.
