The Midwest might not be the first destination that comes to mind when planning winter ski trips, but there are plenty of places in the area to hit the slopes. Most ski areas have a wide variety of runs, making them perfect for all levels of ski enthusiasts. The hills may not be as steep as their competitors out West, but they have the perfect conditions for getting kids started on skis and families looking to spend quality time together in the snow. This winter, pack your gear and head to some of the best places to ski in the Midwest with kids.
*A big shout out to my sister for sharing her family’s Lake Placid experience with me. You’re the best! If you are looking for some winter family fun, Lake Placid is an excellent destination to visit. Located 5 hours from the New York City and Boston areas, nestled in the stunning Adirondack mountains, lies the charming town of Lake Placid, New York, home to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. Lake Placid’s ski resort, Whiteface Mountain, features one of the highest mountain peaks east of the Rockies. The Whiteface Resort is the center of all things winter sports related, but visitors will find many enjoyable activities off the slopes as well.
